6,000 and Climbing
COVID-19 has people all over the world at home in quarantine. What are you to do if you enjoy archery? Well, one Facebook page has weekly challenges that can help you stay in archery shape. This page is called, “Beat the Outbreak Archery League!” It is free for anyone to join and it will challenge you to be a better archer!

If you have 5, 8, 10, or 18 meters you can do any of these exciting and challenging tasks. If you are not sure how far these distances are let me help you out:
5 meters is 16 feet 4 inches or 5 meters is 5.4 yards
8 meters is 26 feet 2 inches or 8 meters is 8.7 yards
10 meters is 32 feet 9 inches or 10 meters is 10.9 yards
18 meters is 59 feet or 18 meters is 19.6 yards
Each week there is an announcement on the page and the new task is explained in detail. There is also a target for you to print out to complete the task. If you do not have a printer you can draw your own target for the weekly challenge.
Right now week 3 just began but it is still ok for you to go back and do week 1 and week 2. I just completed the week 1 challenge and had a great deal of fun. I was able to score a 59/75 with my Mathews VXR compound set-up and Black Eagle Spartan Arrows. I chose to shoot this challenge from the 5-meter distance since I am working on some target panic issues. The 5 point section was harder to his than what you might think.
Over the next few days, I am going to complete the week 2 challenge. I have the target printed off and ready to go. For week 2 I will switch up to my 3D compound bow set up, a Mathews Travers with an HHA single pin site. My larger diameter Black Eagle Challenger Arrows will allow me to try and maximize some of the smaller larger points on the target. I will shoot from the 5-meter mark again for this challenge. I am hoping to have a better outcome with this target and the chance at some higher scores.
Before the end of the week, I will attempt the week 3 challenge. This challenge is a square target that looks almost like a tic tac toe game. The challenge allows you to score multiple points for colors and patterns. Again, you can participate and shoot from 5,8,10, or 18 meters. You can do it inside or outside, wherever it is safest for you!

I really enjoy shooting archery in any form! What I have found so far is that there are people from all over the world on this Facebook page and everyone loves a great challenge. I highly recommend this page for anyone who is looking for something to do while being stuck at home. Check out the page, meet new people, and challenge yourself to become a better archer.
I want to give a huge thumbs up to whoever put this page together. This is one of the greatest uses of Social Media I have experienced. Keep on shooting and have a blast.
